Brendan Fraser directs Darren Aronofsky’s drama


Following its successful world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, A24 has released the official trailer for The whaleDarren Aronofsky’s upcoming drama starring Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink.

The whale The trailer promises a career-best performance from Fraser as he portrays a six hundred pound man trying to reconnect with his daughter. The film is set to arrive in theaters on December 9.

Joining Fraser are Sadie Sink (stranger things, street of fear), Hong Chau (inherent vice, watchmen), Samantha Morton (fantastic beasts and where to find them, The Walking Dead), Ty Simpkins (Insidious), and Sathya Sridharan.

Based on Samuel D. Hunter’s 2012 play of the same name, The whale is set on the outskirts of Mormon Country, Idaho, and follows the story of a six hundred pound recluse as he hides in his apartment eating himself to death. “Desperate to reconnect with his long estranged daughter, he reaches out to her, only to find a sharp-tongued, wildly unhappy teenage girl,” reads the film’s synopsis.

The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky from a screenplay adapted by Hunter.
