The original Poisonous avenger was released in 1984 by Troma Entertainment, a film production company known for its low budget offerings. The film, which subverted the superhero genre much like the dead Pool movies have done in recent years, followed a 98-pound low that falls into a vat of toxic waste, turning it into a towering monstrosity. With his new powers, the now poisonous Avenger (nicknamed Toxie) protects the inhabitants of his city from crime and corruption.

While the original film didn’t make a splash when it first hit theaters, it slowly became a cult favorite and spawned three sequels: 1989 The Toxic Avenger, Part II, The Toxic Avenger Part III: Toxie’s Last Temptation (which was released in late 1989), and the 2000s Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV. An animated spinoff series titled Toxic Crusaders also premiered briefly in 1991. Now is the time to reboot the property, and Peter Dinklage will be the one to bring the character to life.

While Peter Dinklage’s previous outings as Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past and Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War were PG-13 cases, if this new Poisonous avenger the movie looks somehow like its predecessor, it will most likely be an R-rated cinematic game. It’s also worth mentioning that Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, who directed the original Poisonous avenger together will produce the restart.

The poisonous avenger is just one of the many projects that Peter Dinklage lined up as a result Game Of Thrones concluding its eight-season series on HBO last year.
