The Los Angeles Rams have been very active in trading their NFL draft picks. That move to offload NFL-ready talent picks paid off, as the Rams won Super Bowl LVI and have the team to potentially go back-to-back.
Since they don’t select until the end of the third round, the Rams have time off. The Rams took the ‘when in Rome’ approach and went to Hollywood, releasing a fake heist trailer titled On the clock: the house always winswhich features a cast of Rams players and movie stars.
The result is a brilliant creation that stars Dennis Quaid as Rams owner Stan Kroenke, Josh Holloway as General Manager Les Snead, Scott Eastwood as Head Coach Sean McVay, Tyrese Gibson as Defensive Coordinator Raheem Morris and Brody Jenner as Vice President of Football Administration Tony Pastoors, with players Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, Jalen Ramsey, Tyler Higbee and Matthew Stafford.
The Rams have struck a good balance between being “over the top,” but doing it in a way that isn’t too cheesy. And the actors involved were surprisingly good actors.
As of this weekend, the Rams have only two of their original draft picks (fifth and seventh round). The Rams traded their first four picks, as well as their sixth round, but received a 2020 third-round JC-2A resolution pick as well as four total offset picks in the fourth and sixth rounds. So while there will be a lack of top picks, the Rams will be very busy on Saturday. This is when they will seek to carry out their plan and “steal the draft”.
