Netflix revealed the trailer and key art of the Mixing film, which will launch on the streaming service on December 3, 2021. You can watch the trailer using the player below and you can find the poster below.
With Gemma Brooke Allen, Audrey Hsieh, Olga Petsa, Jackson rathbone, Nick Thune and Julie Bowen, the Mixing the film is directed by Valerie Weiss (External banks, Archer) and written by Stacey Menear.
On the eve of 2000, orphan and clumsy Beverly Moody (Gemma Brooke Allen) discovers a broken mixtape designed by her teenage parents who died in a car crash as a baby.
Raised by her grandmother Gail (Julie Bowen), a former teenage mother herself who finds it painful to talk about her late daughter, Beverly sees this mixtape as a chance to learn more about her parents.
So she goes on a trip to find all the songs on the tape. Along the way, she befriends her eccentric neighbor, Ellen (Audrey Hsieh); intimidating, Nicky (Olga Petsa); and Anti (Nick Thune), an anti-everything record store owner who is the key to finding these tracks, and a renewed bond between Gail and Beverly.
The series is produced by Gil Netter and Jim Wedaa. Executive producers are Jennie Lee, Paddy Bickerton, Michael O’Connor and Chris Foss.
Director Valerie Weiss previously said, “As a mother of two daughters on the verge of childhood and adulthood, I felt compelled to direct this story of a 12 year old girl trying to find her identity. through music, friendship and connection with her young grandmother. who raises it.
“I knew it was a chance to make a timeless film presenting the world the way I want my two daughters and their friends to see it.
She added, “One that reflects the values they need to make it a better place while celebrating kick-ass music, cool ’90s nostalgia, while forging their own identity. A film that teaches them that nothing is irreparably lost if we can find the courage to reconnect. “
