Supes delivers ultimate punchline in Injustice animated trailer

‘Evil Superman’ etc.

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation have released a new trailer for the next movie Injustice – an animated adaptation of the 2013 release of NetherRealm Studios Injustice: Gods Among Us and its accompanying comic book series.

Much like the plot of the classic fight title, Injustice will tell the story of a Superman pushed away, far beyond his moral code after a catastrophic tragedy befalls his city of Metropolis. Immediately taking swift and brutal revenge against the responsible individual (guess who?), Superman then creates a fascist police state – The Regime – fully convinced that the only way to protect people is to combine strict oppression and violent retaliation.

Unsurprisingly, Superman’s new methods aren’t too popular with his old allies and enemies. DC Comics legends such as Wonder Woman, The Flash, Nightwing, Aquaman, Lex Luthor, Catwoman, and of course The Batman are all forced to reexamine their motivations and relationships during Superman’s devastating reign, leading to an all-out showdown. who could see the Justice League’s internal politics laid bare – bringing cataclysm to the most important faction on the planet.

While the “Bad Superman” trope is perhaps the most overused trope in DC history, the NRS ‘story campaign Injustice was definitely engaging. The “double universe” angle, which saw heroes as villains and vice versa, allowed for interesting teams and surprising turns. And while I’m not personally fan of WB’s animation style, the Injustice The movie looks like a great way for comic book fans to kill off a few hours on a wet weekend.

Injustice digital and Blu-ray premieres October 19.
