Uncharted official trailer leaked online early

The official trailer for the next one Unexplored The film starring Tom Holland has reportedly been leaked online. The trailer was posted via Twitter by user @ MauroNL3 and features a 40-second scene of the titular actor on a plane. The leak happened before the supposed Unexplored officially trailer of the film drop October 21, 2021, which is tomorrow, and claims a release date of February 2022. Spoilers are likely to come.

Breakdown of the trailer and release date

The images in the Unexplored The trailer for the film appears to show a scene of Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake falling through the air on a cargo plane, scaling various crates to try and get back inside, a likely tribute to one similar scene of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Mark Wahlberg’s Sully also appears briefly in the trailer, and the ending card shows the release date of Unexplored as February 18, 2022. The date is likely due to the film’s recent delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the loss of its original director, Shawn Levy. While Sony deleted most of the video’s sources on YouTube, the original Tweet spread like wildfire on social media.

Sony has previously released photos and promotional images for the film. The film adaptation will follow a much younger version of Nathan Drake and serves as a sort of prequel storyline, although many scenes, like the cargo plane scene seen in the trailer, are inspired by several moments from the games. More details should be shared once the trailer is officially released.

This won’t be Sony’s only adventure in the film adaptation of their various IPs, as last year they confirmed several ongoing game-to-film projects, including three films and seven TV series based on its IP based on these series. The ghosts of Tsushima and Naughty Dog’s The last of us TV shows.
