Watch Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Movie First Trailer Now

Raccoon City is one of the most important locations in the Resident Evil universe, and in the first trailer for the next film adaptation of the series, it’s also on the verge of a zombie apocalypse. The new movie is called Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and it hits theaters on November 24.

Resident Evil is no stranger to the big screen. During the 2000s and 2010s, director Paul WS Anderson directed six films in the series. But last entry, written and directed Johannes Roberts (47 meters lower), is a complete reboot of the franchise, overhauling all of the main characters in the Anderson series. The story also gets closer to the original game this time around, as evidenced by the dimly lit mansion search in the trailer.

The trailer introduces us to Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario) and her brother Chris (Robbie Amell), two of the main characters in the series. Claire has a theory that Umbrella, the big company that backs their tiny hometown of Raccoon City, is actually evil… and it turns out she’s right. As fans of the games might expect, Claire and Chris’ search for answers sends them to a spooky mansion, has them run into Leon S. Kennedy (Avan Jogia), and sends them straight to the heart of Umbrella’s twisted experiments and zombies and the monsters they produce.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City isn’t the only new cinematic iteration of the Resident Evil games. Earlier this year, Netflix released a new animated series called Endless darkness. The streamer also has a live Wesker series in the works, which should be released in the future. Resident Evil Village was also released earlier this year while Resident Evil Re: Verse, a multiplayer shooter celebrating the series’ 25th anniversary, will be released in 2022.
